"It's been ages now since my quit
session and I've lost count of the number of weeks since
I stopped. I haven't even thought about smoking I wish I'd done it years ago". |

1.1 Will I Lose Control? |
The common mis-conception, based on seeing
hypnotised people being "made" to do bizarre things, is that
they are under the hypnotist's control. This is not true. |
Everyone enters into hypnosis voluntarily.
No-one can be forced to be hypnotised or do things that they
don't want to do. |
1.2 Do I Become
Unconscious? |
This can vary by degree but in general - no.
Most people are fully aware of what is happening but become so
relaxed that they can more easily drift into the sub-conscious
(not un-conscious) state, where the work of hypnotherapy takes
place. |
It's a bit like having the bodily relaxation
of sleep, yet being aware of it. |
1.3 Will I Remember
It All? |
Again, the amount of recollection after
hypnosis can vary but this is not something to worry about. |
The memory of the sub-conscious, where the
work is done, remembers everything that takes place, but this
may not all "cross over" into the everyday waking consciousness
in which we conduct our lives, because it is not necessary. |
The effectiveness of the hypnotherapy happens at a sub-conscious
level. |
1.4 What Is Hypnosis? |
It is a state of consciousness that can be
accessed by the client, helped by the therapist, in order to
empower the sub-conscious desire to change some behaviour
(smoking, overeating, lack of confidence, etc.) and lose the
shackles of the acquired habit or condition, replacing them with
something more healthy and beneficial. |

2.1 How Effective Is Hypnosis
Compared To Other Methods? |
Most people have tried willpower alone or
nicotine replacement before hypnosis. But other methods can't
tackle the real problem, which is the dilemma between wanting to
quit and wanting to carry on. |
Notice that even adverts for patches or gum always say "requires
willpower". |
With hypnosis, this contradiction in
directions is entirely circumvented. The weaker, subconscious
desire to quit, is empowered and the habit is able to be seen in
a different light, transforming what has previously been a
psychological crutch, as well as being physically addictive,
into something new and healthy. |
This transformation is, however, difficult to
explain in words because it comes from a normally unknown,
powerful part of ourselves, only accessible in this much more
relaxed, open and different state which we call hypnosis. |
2.2 What Is The Success Rate? |
I gauge this based on the many people I have
seen for quitting smoking. I offer a free back-up session for
anyone who, at any time, goes back to smoking and I have only
had about half-a-dozen come back so far. Also taking into
account some people who have returned to smoking and not
contacted me, I still feel confident in saying that about 90% +
of clients have successfully quit after hypnosis with me. |
2.3 What Help Is There After The
Sessions? |
I give a price-inclusive CD to clients who
quit which allows them to self-hypnotise/relax at any time they
feel the need and recommend they listen to it once a day for the
first two weeks. This is a ten-minute relaxation and can even be
listened to when going to sleep at night. Not, however, for use
whilst driving! |
2.4 Are There Any Side-effects
Like Putting On Weight? |
In a word - no. Because the smoking habit is
transformed by being replaced from within the client's sub
consciousness, it ceases to be a form of relief behaviour which
just "moves sideways", resulting in some other form of
self-comforting, e.g. overeating. |
Indeed, beyond that, because the treatment
is, in part, a general habit-breaker, the whole world of a
client's habitual behaviour can benefit - including overeating! |

3.1 How Much To Stop Smoking? |
£95. This covers two sessions. One to
establish the smoking history, including a questionnaire, and to
give an introduction into the hypnosis technique, with a gentle,
general relaxation. The second session, to follow in a few days,
is the quit session proper. |
Also included in the price is a relaxation
CD, which can be used after quitting as a daily "top-up" to
sustain resolve. |
3.2 How Much For Treatment Of Other
Conditions Like Phobias,
Overeating, Lack Of Confidence etc. ? |
After an initial FREE consultation, a session of approximately
one hour is £40. |
3.3 What If I'm Unemployed Or on A Low
Income? |
People with proof of unemployment can expect a discount of 50%
on current rates. |
People with demonstrably low income (receipt
of tax credits for example) can negotiate a %age price
reduction. |
